Welcome to ABI Charity. By making a donation through abicharity.no, you accept these terms and conditions.
1. About ABI Charity
ABI Charity is a registered non-profit organisation in Norway.
Organisation number: 836 989 902
Our purpose is to collect and distribute charitable funds in accordance with Islamic principles and applicable Norwegian law.
2. Donations
Donations made through abicharity.no are voluntary and can be given to, among other things:
- Zakat
- Sadaqah
- Qurbani
- Emergency relief projects
- Water projects
- Food distribution
- Orphans
- Mosque and community projects
- Other charitable purposes administered by ABI Charity
As far as possible, donations will be used for the project the donor has chosen. If a project cannot be carried out due to circumstances beyond our control, ABI Charity reserves the right to use the funds for a similar charitable purpose where the need is greatest. This does not apply to zakat.
3. Zakat
ABI Charity handles all zakat funds separately from other donations and ensures that they are distributed to recipients who are eligible to receive zakat according to traditional Islamic principles.
ABI Charity does not deduct an administration fee or any percentage from your zakat. The full zakat amount you have calculated is intended to benefit the recipients.
However, payment through our payment solutions incurs costs such as payment fees, bank transfers, currency exchange and other transaction costs. According to Islamic principles, zakat cannot be given through projects, but must be transferred directly to the individual recipient, and that transfer must happen quickly. This makes it more costly than other donations.
If you give zakat as an amount of your choice, a surcharge of 3.5% + 2 kr is therefore added at payment. The surcharge comes in addition to the zakat amount you enter, and is never deducted from it. The full amount you have calculated is passed on to the recipients.
If you mark individual items in the donation catalogue as zakat, the price of the item is final and already includes these costs. The full price therefore cannot count as zakat: the zakat value is the price less 3.5% + 2 kr. We show the exact amount at checkout before you pay, so that you know how much of your zakat obligation the purchase covers.
The surcharge is used solely to cover payment and transfer costs and is not part of the zakat. For donations other than zakat, the prices are final and include the costs; there you can choose to give a voluntary additional contribution beyond this, which goes to the transfers and to building up the organisation.
4. Qurbani
Donations to Qurbani are used to purchase animals, and for slaughter, handling and distribution of meat to those in need.
Prices may vary as a result of local market conditions, exchange rates and transport costs.
If, for unforeseen reasons, Qurbani cannot be carried out in the chosen area, ABI Charity may carry it out in another area with a similar need.
5. Payment
All payments are processed through secure and approved payment solutions.
ABI Charity does not store card information or payment details.
6. Refunds
Donations are considered final once the payment has been completed.
Since donated funds are normally passed on or allocated shortly after receipt, donations cannot, as a general rule, be refunded.
In the event of an incorrect payment, duplicate payment or other obvious errors, please contact us as soon as possible. Any refunds are assessed individually if the funds have not yet been transferred or allocated.
7. Use of donations
ABI Charity works to manage all funds raised in a responsible and transparent manner.
We do our best to use donations in accordance with the donor's wishes. If this is not possible due to circumstances beyond our control, the funds may be used for a similar charitable purpose other than zakat.
8. Privacy
ABI Charity processes personal data in accordance with the Norwegian Personal Data Act (personopplysningsloven) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We only collect personal data that is necessary to:
- process the donation
- send a receipt
- fulfil statutory obligations
- communicate with the donor when necessary
Personal data is not shared with third parties other than Vipps and Stripe, beyond what is necessary for payment processing or when required by law.
9. Administration
ABI Charity works for efficient and responsible management of the funds raised. Any administrative costs are covered through our own income, voluntary contributions or dedicated donations, and not by deductions from the donor's zakat.
10. Limitation of liability
ABI Charity cannot be held liable for delays in or failure to carry out projects due to circumstances beyond the organisation's control, including natural disasters, war, government restrictions, banking conditions or other force majeure events.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law.
Any disputes shall first be sought resolved amicably. If agreement is not reached, the matter shall be heard by the Norwegian courts, with legal venue in Norway.
12. Transparency
ABI Charity strives to be open about how the funds raised are used and will, where possible, inform donors about completed projects through the website, photos and the organisation's official communication channels.
